Fangirl Life Tip #3

#3 - Retrieving your soul from Tumblr

You don't.

Well you can certainly give it your best shot, but there's a 99% chance that you never will. Story time. I have a good friend named Belle who got hooked on tumblr in late winter of last year. Every day she'd come to choir and say the same thing: "I was supposed to study, but then I saw that one thing on tumblr and then I looked at the clock and it was five hours later". Well dearest Belle did everything in her power to break the curse, but to no avail. She even went so far as to delete her blog, but that didn't work either. Belle has a best friend who is terribly popular on tumblr and Belle has her password. She found herself going online to "check" on her friends blog, but even though it wasn't hers, she'd still spend hours going down the others dashboard. Once you hit that sign up button, you sign a deal with the devil pretty much, giving your body mind and soul to the blogging website. Not that it's a bad thing. Our Lucifer is a cutie

Besides. Why would you want to leave anyway? We have beautiful fandoms, and fanart, and brilliant artists and writers who do great work.

Even us homestucks have beautiful art and that's saying something because we somehow managed to get a terrible reputation.

(i still don't see peoples issues with homestuck)

Granted, tumblr can look stupid, but that's partially Supernatural's fault because though the show is painful and cruel, it has the best scenes and oneliners of anyone.

You may go and try your very best to escape the clutches of the site Karp created, but the big secret to removing your soul from tumblr is this: you just can't. Plain and simple. Delete your blog, go ahead (don't do it I'm sure you have a lovely blog it's not worth it), you'll be back in no time quelling your gross desires with beautiful men and TV shows like the rest of us.

Fangirl Life Tip #2

#2 - Joining Tumblr

Everyone knows about that blogging website out there called Tumblr, but some people just don't know how to appreciate it. It's a place where a bunch of like minded people can come together and follow each other and befriend those of the same interests. But for the sake of this blog, we'll focus simply on the fandom side of Tumblr.
So you want to make a blog! Good for you! This is a great place to start. Everyone's very welcoming and no matter how obscure your fandom is, there's bound to be plentiful amounts of people for you to follow. Now. When you join, make your blog to your liking. If you're tech savvy, code it however your heart desires, if you're like me and can barely use the keyboard, don't let anyone talk you down, use one of the free ones on Tumblr, they're just as good. Once there, you'll find your dashboard, and then you can start finding people to follow. Go type in your interests in the search bar and follow cool people who post stuff you like. Also, don't listen to people complaining about having too many followers. Love the ones you have, they'll be your best friends even if you don't talk to them.
Once you've gotten in the groove a bit, post a picture but be sure to tag it and put a caption on it giving credit to the author or artists if need be.

Tip #1: There are the 'big three' fandoms of Tumblr: Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock (or Superwholock) followed by Merlin, Homestuck, Welcome to Night Vale, and now Shingeki no Kyojin and Free. Let's just say Tumblr attaches to a book or show and it explodes everywhere to the point that even if you don't watch/read it, you know the basic story line at the least.

Tip #2: YOU JUST CAN'T AVOID SPOILERS. if you see a gif set of a movie you wanted to see and it shows the ending. Don't go off and cry. You won't avoid spoilers so if you don't want them, stay offline until you've seen/read whatever it is

Tip #3: Anon hate = no bueno. Don't do that. Bad.

Tip #4: Everybody is in the Harry Potter fandom, even if you hate it. Since everybody knows about it, they get to be a part of the fandom too.

Tip #5: Don't give into Tumblr peer pressure and read Homestuck unless you have a ton of time on your hands and like confusing things. (I've read it and love it, but it's addicting and time consuming).

Tip #6: Have fun. We're a family. Don't go starting fandom wars, and if you're a part of a fandom that's in one, stay out of it. It's not worth it and those people are just stupid. Seriously. Spread the love.

Fangirl Life Tip #1

Welcome, and thank you for choosing Life Lessons for Every Fangirl, I hope you enjoy your stay.

#1- The First Fandom.

Everyone is a part of some fandom, whether they wish to admit it or not. Only those of us who are at ease with our nerd/geek-ship can truly come to terms with the fact that we are, in fact, a fangirl or boy. Everyone is familiar with their first fandom, just the mention of it sends you back down memory lane either with a pleased "ah yes, good times", or the more common: "what was I even thinking when I started that?". For now, let's dip our toes into that very first time we watched a show or read a book and thought "this is the One, this is my favorite".

Personally, when I was little, I absentmindedly joined the Pokemon fandom. I traded cards, played the Game-boy games, everything. But I was young and didn't know what 'fandom' meant, so I never could attribute anything to it sadly.
Let's explore this 'fandom' for a moment. According to Urbandictionary.com the word means: "Fan Domain
A domain in the internet about a comic, a book, a tv show, a video game etc. There are several fandoms all around the internet, where fans converge and the comunities are really big, many have forums, fanfics, fanart, etc." or " The community that surrounds a tv show/movie/book etc. Fanfiction writers, artists, poets, and cosplayers are all members of that fandom. Fandoms often consist of message boards, livejournal communites, and people. " or the most accurate: "A cult that will destroy your life"
So go out and find that first fandom. Try something new! It may not be your technical 'first' fandom, but it counts if you're trying out a new genre. If you usually stick to books, go watch an anime or a nice episode on the BBC. The world is big, and the world of fandoms even bigger. Good luck.

My first post (it's all very exciting isn't it)

So I have absolutely no clue what to write about. Surprise surprise. Well, okay, I can't actually write anything with someone so close to me...stresses me out. Which is great since i'm in a computer lab surrounded by people. So then of course i go and think "well, what if I just keyboard smash with my forehead?" but I figured that wouldn't count towards my words unless somehow i miraculously formed sentences by doing that.
Update: i definitely just got done saying the Star Trek opening because K showed me a picture of space.

This is going well for my first blogging adventure I guess...(not really) I mean, I don't even have anything to rant about for once unless i go off on some 2000 word summary of my  feelings towards Star Trek and the very attractive famous men from my fandoms (which is something that nobody wants).

Update 2: never go back and reread fanfiction you were writing with two of your best friends. You make it 40 something chapters in and then it delves into insanity and pictures of everything imaginable with commentary that makes no sense. Just. Don't.

Update 2.1 edition: Mrs. Weekman of course asks for not every one of these blogs to be rants and us babbling on, but there's a slight problem when the dominate story in my head is the one i'm plotting and planning meticulously for Nanowrimo which is still a month away. Oh and sure, maybe if i started writing it on here that would work, oh wait, you can't start your story until November first so boom there goes that idea. Maybe something will come.

Welp. You know for a person who talks so much normally, i can't think of a single thing to say right now other than worthless babbles to fill up my word quota. Though i must give fair warning. I'm overly fond of gifs and pictures and Star Trek so there will no doubt me much incorporation of that into this here writing.
