Fangirl Life Tip #2

#2 - Joining Tumblr

Everyone knows about that blogging website out there called Tumblr, but some people just don't know how to appreciate it. It's a place where a bunch of like minded people can come together and follow each other and befriend those of the same interests. But for the sake of this blog, we'll focus simply on the fandom side of Tumblr.
So you want to make a blog! Good for you! This is a great place to start. Everyone's very welcoming and no matter how obscure your fandom is, there's bound to be plentiful amounts of people for you to follow. Now. When you join, make your blog to your liking. If you're tech savvy, code it however your heart desires, if you're like me and can barely use the keyboard, don't let anyone talk you down, use one of the free ones on Tumblr, they're just as good. Once there, you'll find your dashboard, and then you can start finding people to follow. Go type in your interests in the search bar and follow cool people who post stuff you like. Also, don't listen to people complaining about having too many followers. Love the ones you have, they'll be your best friends even if you don't talk to them.
Once you've gotten in the groove a bit, post a picture but be sure to tag it and put a caption on it giving credit to the author or artists if need be.

Tip #1: There are the 'big three' fandoms of Tumblr: Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock (or Superwholock) followed by Merlin, Homestuck, Welcome to Night Vale, and now Shingeki no Kyojin and Free. Let's just say Tumblr attaches to a book or show and it explodes everywhere to the point that even if you don't watch/read it, you know the basic story line at the least.

Tip #2: YOU JUST CAN'T AVOID SPOILERS. if you see a gif set of a movie you wanted to see and it shows the ending. Don't go off and cry. You won't avoid spoilers so if you don't want them, stay offline until you've seen/read whatever it is

Tip #3: Anon hate = no bueno. Don't do that. Bad.

Tip #4: Everybody is in the Harry Potter fandom, even if you hate it. Since everybody knows about it, they get to be a part of the fandom too.

Tip #5: Don't give into Tumblr peer pressure and read Homestuck unless you have a ton of time on your hands and like confusing things. (I've read it and love it, but it's addicting and time consuming).

Tip #6: Have fun. We're a family. Don't go starting fandom wars, and if you're a part of a fandom that's in one, stay out of it. It's not worth it and those people are just stupid. Seriously. Spread the love.
